John Woodin announced Tuesday that he is retiring as VP and general manager of Cox-owned KIRO-TV, the award-winning CBS affiliate in Seattle, for the past nine years. He will be succeeded by Eric Lerner, currently general manager of ABC-owned KFSN-TV in Fresno, Calif.

Mr. Woodin said Tuesday: “It is with a lot of sadness I leave the people of KIRO television. They are among the best I’ve ever worked with in 33 years in the business. But I’ll never have to look at a rating book again.”

Mr. Lerner also has a long television news career and was news director of KING-TV in Seattle in the late 1990s. He went on to become news director at ABC’s WLS-TV in Chicago before moving to Fresno in 2001. Mr. Lerner will move into his new position on April 24, 2006.
