ABC News has promoted correspondent Jake Tapper to senior national correspondent, covering political, policy and cultural stories. Mr. Tapper also will serve as senior political correspondent and will continue to be based in Washington.

He joined ABC News in 2003 after being national correspondent for Salon.com, a columnist for Talk magazine and a contributor to a number of major newspapers and other publications.

“Jake is one of the most versatile reporters in television news,” said ABC News President David Westin. “He brings a fresh approach to everything he covers, from domestic politics to the war in Iraq to faith and values. Jake’s range, his unique voice and his ability to break stories make him an invaluable member of the ABC News team.”
