Fox Television Studios has made a deal with HarperCollins Publishers, to develop TV projects based on the publishing company’s existing library, as well as new HarperCollins titles.

Initially focused on HarperCollins’ mystery and romance novels, Fox will develop content for television, DVD and digital media. Fox Television Studios President Angela Shapiro-Mathes made the announcement Thursday.

The first titles targeted for TV series development come from legal suspense author Lisa Scottoline’s nine-volume series of thrillers, “Legal Tender.”

Additionally, Fox Television Studios has optioned “The Reading Group” by Elizabeth Noble. Ms. Noble’s novel chronicles a year in the life of a group of women who form a book club.

To facilitate projects, Fox TV Studios has retained producer Karen Glass to work out of HarperCollins’ New York City offices.
