Fox Wins Week in Demo; CBS Tops in Total Viewers

Fox was once again the top network in the adults 18 to 49 demographic, while CBS was No. 1 in total viewers.

For the week ended May 21, Fox’s Tuesday edition of “American Idol” was the top-rated show in both adults 18 to 49 and total viewers. “Idol” Tuesday scored a 11.0 rating in adults 18 to 49, a number that includes live-plus-same-day viewing, according to Nielsen Media Research. The music reality competition also garnered 28. 3 million viewers.

“Idol” Wednesday was the No. 2 show in both demos, scoring a 10.7 in adults 18 to 49 and 27.7 million viewers. ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” was ranked third in adults 18 to 49 with a 9.9, tying the special Monday night two-hour season finale of “Grey’s Anatomy.” In total viewers CBS’s “CSI” ranked No. 3 with 25.4 million.

Fox scored a 4.6 for the week in adults 18 to 49, followed by ABC (4.0), CBS (3.5), NBC (3.3), Univision (1.4), UPN (1.2), The WB (0.9) and Telemundo (0.3).

In total viewers CBS was tops with 12.0 million, followed by Fox (11.0 million), ABC (10.4 million), NBC (9.6 million), Univision (3.3 million), UPN (2.6 million), The WB (2.3 million) and Telemundo (756,000).
