ABC Daytime President Brian Frons has been named president of daytime for Disney-ABC Television Group.

Aside from managing ABC Daytime, Mr. Frons will also oversee SoapNet and Buena Vista Productions and have responsibility for the creation, production and delivery of daytime programming for the Disney-ABC Television Group.

The announcement was made Wednesday by Anne Sweeney, co-chair of Disney Media Networks and president of Disney-ABC Television Group, to whom Mr. Frons will continue to report.

Mr. Frons was named to his current position in August 2002. He has been responsible for ABC’s current daytime lineup, which includes “The View,” “All My Children,” “One Life to Live” and “General Hospital.”

Mr. Frons joined ABC Daytime from London-based SBS Broadcasting, where he served as senior VP of programming. Earlier in his career he was president of creative affairs for New World Entertainment, where he directed program development and production for network, first-run syndication and international co-production. Mr. Frons has also been VP of current affairs for NBC Productions.

He began his television career in 1978 as one of three program management trainees chosen during a national search by CBS Entertainment.
