A video-on-demand replay of the finale of CBS’s “Survivor” will be offered free to some Comcast customers through a General Motors sponsorship, the companies announced Friday.

The companies said it is the first time a prime-time network show has been fully sponsored and shown free on-demand.

Normally, CBS shows on Comcast On Demand cost 99 cents. The VOD shows will include three commercial messages: one before the show begins, one in the middle and one at the end. The spots direct viewers to GM Showroom, a VOD advertising feature.

The “Survivor” reunion show is also being sponsored by GM and made available free to Comcast digital subscribers in some markets.

The programs will air on CBS on May 14 and will be available in Comcast markets with CBS-owned stations beginning May 15. Those markets are Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit and Philadelphia.

“Technology continues to allow us to partner with our clients in new and exciting ways,” said Jo Ann Ross, president of sales for CBS Television Networks.
