CBS and Griffin Communications announced Monday that they have signed a new long-term affiliation agreement for KWTV to remain the CBS affiliate in Oklahoma City, the 45th-largest market in the country.

“This long-term affiliation agreement extends a business relationship between the Griffin family and CBS that has lasted more than 70 years and through three generations. We see the success we’ve shared in the past as a prelude to many more years of leadership and growth ahead,” Griffin Communications President David Griffin said in the announcement.

“There are any number of compelling reasons why KWTV is the best possible affiliate CBS could have in Oklahoma City-or in any other market, for that matter,” said Peter Schruth, president of CBS Affiliate Relations. “The station is consistently one of the top 10 CBS affiliates in the country, they’re No. 1 in late news and building local and network newscast ratings, they’ve been honored many times by their peers in the media for adhering to the highest standards of journalism, they’ve been the first in Oklahoma and the nation to introduce new technologies as part of their innovative-and often life-saving-weather coverage, they’ve forged a variety of strategic information and marketing partnerships with other media companies in the state, they’re actively engaged in exemplary public service activities and they’ve earned the trust and admiration of their viewers.”
