The fourth-season premiere of NBC’s reality series “Last Comic Standing” helped propel NBC into the top spot among the adults 18 to 49 demographic.

The two-hour “Comic” premiere scored a 3.7 rating in adults 18 to 49, a number that includes live-plus-same-day viewing, according to Nielsen Media Research. On a night dominated by repeats and movie airings, “Comic” was the highest-rated program in the demo for the night. “Comic” lead-out “Law & order: SVU” and an original episode of CBS’s “48 Hours: Mystery” tied for No. 2 with a 3.1.

“Comic” was down 3 percent from its last premiere in August 2004, and down 16 percent from its June 2003 debut. Still, “Comic” grew 52 percent from its first half-hour (2.9) at 8 p.m. (ET) to its last half hour (4.4) at 9:30 p.m.
