Jodie Platt has been promoted to head of comedy for Touchstone Television, taking over for the studio’s former top comedy executive Alex Weinberger, who will be spending more time at home. Julia Franz, executive VP of creative affairs for Touchstone Television, made the announcement Monday.

Ms. Platt will oversee the studio’s comedy development and production. She previously was VP of comedy development, where she helped develop “According to Jim.” She joined the company as manager of comedy series in August 2000, and was promoted to director in July 2002 and to executive director in July 2003.

Prior to joining Touchstone Television, Ms. Platt worked as a comedy series coordinator at ABC. She started her career as an assistant in the current programming department at Fox Broadcasting Company.

Ms. Weinberger, Touchstone Television’s former head of comedy, has decided to relinquish oversight of the daily operations. Ms. Weinberger will remain VP of comedy development, splitting her work schedule between home and office.
