TNT/TBS Originals Group Moves Closer to Ad Sales Unit

TNT and TBS announced Tuesday that their original programming group has added two executives and has been restructured to work more closely with the ad sales department on sponsored programming.

Lillah McCarthy, who had been a consultant to the networks, was named VP of series programming for TNT and TBS; and Nina Howie, VP of comedy series for Touchstone Television, was named VP of comedy for TBS.

Sam Linsky, who had been director of development for TNT, was promoted to VP of drama for the network.

The networks also named Sharon Byrens VP of development for sponsored programming and David Hudson VP of production for sponsored programming.

TNT and TBS have been adding original scripted programming to their lineups and forming increasingly complicated marketing partnerships with sponsors, including commercial-free premieres for three of this season’s high-profile programs: “The Closer,” “Saved” and “Nightmares and Dreamscapes.”

“This new executive structure will help the TBS and TNT originals team continue to build dynamic relationships with the best talent in the industry,” said Sandra Dewey, senior VP of business affairs and original production for TBS and TNT original programming. “It will also allow us to put increased focus on working with the network ad sales departments in creating groundbreaking partnerships that link to our original programming.”
