NBC News on Wednesday announced it has doubled the number of producers working on its four-year-old investigative reporting unit, which feeds stories to all of its news programs and platforms, including MSNBC and msnbc.com.

Senior investigative correspondent Lisa Myers and senior producer Jim Popkin lead the unit. Other NBC News correspondents also will contribute to the unit’s efforts.

NBC News President Steve Capus said in the announcement that the move “clearly demonstrates the news division’s commitment to investigative journalism, and NBC’s willingness to invest in stories that will have a major impact.”

“There are so many important stories percolating right now that demand an investigative approach,” Mr. Popkin said in the announcement. “There’s never been a better time to be an investigative reporter.”
