Political advertising and a huge increase in online revenues helped Gannett Broadcasting generate higher revenues in the second quarter of 2006 than it did the year before, in spite of a 4.7 percent increase in expenses, Gannett Co. reported Thursday.
Broadcasting generated revenues of $205.4 million for the quarter, a 3.8 percent increase from the second quarter of 2005. Online revenues increased 63 percent. Operating cash flow for the quarter totaled $101.4 million, compared with $98.7 million in the second quarter of 2005. Broadcasting expenses, including stock-based compensation, were 4.7 percent higher in the quarter.
