Susan Adams Loyd has been named VP and general manager of CBS-owned WCCO-TV in Minneapolis. The move brings her back to the city in which she grew up and in which she held a number of positions over nine years at Gannett-owned KARE-TV.

She succeeds Ed Piette, recently named president and general manager of the CBS-owned WBZ-TV and WSBK-TV in Boston and WLWC-TV in Providence, R.I., and will report to CBS Television Stations President and CEO Tom Kane.

Ms. Loyd had been VP and general manager of Clear Channel Television’s CBS affiliate WTEV-TV CBS 47 and Fox affiliate WAWS-TV FOX 30, both in Jacksonville, Fla., since 2000. In the ensuing period the stations’ operations were merged with seven sister radio stations and an outdoor billboard plant. She also managed the switch of WTEV from a UPN affiliate to a CBS affiliate after Post-Newsweek’s WJXT-TV went independent. Clear Channel named her TV executive of the year in 2003.

Before joining Clear Channel, Ms. Loyd worked several years for Cox Broadcasting in Orlando, Fla., as director of programming and broadcast services at ABC affiliate WFTV-TV and indie WRDQ-TV.
