Barbara Fedida Brill is coming back to CBS News as executive director of talent after 17 years at ABC News, most recently as director of talent recruitment and development.

She will report to CBS News and Sports President Sean McManus and oversee all talent and producer recruitment and development. The appointment is effective immediately, the network said Tuesday.

Her career included a stint as a broadcast assistant for the CBS magazine “West 57th” before joining ABC News as a production associate for “Peter Jennings Reporting” in 1989. Her work with the late Mr. Jennings included “World News Tonight,” town hall meetings and children’s specials. She shared in the duPont-Columbia Award that the network won in 2002 for its Sept. 11 coverage and Mr. Jennings’ “9/11: Answering Children’s Questions.”

She also was a senior producer of “ABC 2000,” the 26-hour millennium broadcast that earned Peabody and Emmy awards.
