Actor Ashley Hartman (“The O.C.”) has been signed as CBS Digital Media’s first “wireless hostess,” making her the face and voice of the service and as a guide to consumers in all of CBS’s wireless endeavors.

She will appear on mobile phones in videos and alerts, as well as around mobile content on CBS Web sites where consumers purchase mobile content, such as wallpaper, ringtones and games.

“We’re very happy to have found Ashley, who is dynamic, entertaining and a great hostess for our mobile content on carrier video portals and the web,” said Cyriac Roeding, VP of wireless for CBS Digital Media.

Ms. Hartman’s first appearance on television was as a semifinalist on the second season of Fox’s “American Idol.” Since then, she has had a recurring role on Fox teen drama “The O.C.” and appeared in an episode of canceled Fox comedy “Quintuplets.” She is also a model and a columnist for the Orange County, Calif., magazine Newport Beach 714.
