King World Productions has hired Alexandra Jewett as VP of programming and development. Ms. Jewett will oversee King World’s new syndicated daytime talk show “Rachael Ray” and develop new programming for the company. She’ll be based in New York.

Terry Wood, president of creative affairs and development for CBS Paramount Domestic Television and King World Productions, made the announcement Monday.

Most recently, Ms. Jewett headed her own production company, A-III Productions, where she created and produced original series including TLC’s “Operation Homecoming” and Discovery Health’s “Rebuilt: The Human Body Shop.”

In syndication, Ms. Jewett spent four seasons as a producer on “Donahue” and helped launch King World’s “Ananda Lewis” and NBC Enterprises’ “The John Walsh Show.” She also developed and produced American-style talk shows in Europe for production company Multimedia and served as a programming consultant for cable network TLC.
