ABC Steps Up to Tuesday Win With ‘Dancing’

ABC was the top broadcaster Tuesday in adults 18 to 49 with help from its 90-minute reality series “Dancing With the Stars.”

“Dancing” scored a 5.6 preliminary national rating in adults 18 to 49, a number that includes live plus same-day viewing, according to Nielsen Media Research.

NBC’s 10 p.m. (ET) procedural “Law & Order: SVU” was No. 2 with a 4.6, followed by CBS’s 8 p.m. drama “NCIS (3.8) and NBC’s 9 p.m. “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” and its time period competitor CBS’s “The Unit,” which both scored a 3.6 rating in adults 18 to 49.

On CBS at 10 p.m., a repeat “CSI” scored a 3.2 rating, replacing the recently benched debut drama “Smith.” That eclipsed ABC’s time period competition, “Boston Legal” (2.9).

The first baseball game of the American League championship series between the Detroit Tigers and the Oakland A’s scored a 2.6 rating on Fox.

On The CW, “Gilmore Girls” grew 5 percent from last week to a 2.0 in adults 18 to 49 at 8 p.m., while at 9 p.m. “Veronica Mars” scored a 1.3, down 7 percent from its season premiere last week.
