ABC Wins Top Ratings Spot for Week With Assist From ‘Grey’s’

ABC took the crown as highest-rated broadcaster in adults 18 to 49 for the week ended Oct. 1, propelled in part by the No. 1 show of the week, Thursday night medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy.”

“Grey’s” scored a 9.5 rating in adults 18 to 49,a number that includes live viewing plus same-day viewing via digital video recorders, according to Nielsen Media Research.

No. 2 for the week in the demo was ABC’s Sunday night drama “Desperate Housewives,” which scored an 8.6. CBS’s Thursday night “Grey’s” time period competitor “CSI” was third with an 8.0, followed by NBC’s Sunday night telecast of NFL football (6.7).

In total viewers, “CSI” was the top-rated show for the week with 23.8 million total viewers, with “Grey’s” dropping to second place with 23.5 million. “Housewives” was third with 21.4 million viewers, followed by ABC’s reality series “Dancing With the Stars” (17.9 million).

ABC averaged a 4.0 rating in adults 18 to 49 for the week, followed by CBS (3.9), NBC (3.7), Fox (2.6), Univisión (1.7), The CW (1.5) and Telemundo (0.4).
