TBS, MySpace Team for Comedy Contest

Oct 25, 2006  •  Post A Comment

TBS has partnered with MySpace to introduce an online comedy competition that lets amateur comedians submit videos of their work via MySpace. MySpace users can then vote on the finalists, who will be featured on a special that’s slated to air Nov. 17 on TBS. The winner will receive $50,000 and a development deal with the network.

The partnership signals MySpace’s intent to build its site as a destination for TV content in tandem with television programmers. In addition, the contest is the latest in a string of user-generated contests that networks have introduced. Earlier this week, Comedy Central crowned a winner for its first user-generated online talent contest, while SoapNet and Sci Fi Channel have user-generated competitions under way.
