Mika Salmi has been named president of global digital media for MTV Networks, a new post.

Mr. Salmi was founder and president of Atom Films, which was acquired by MTVN in August. He will report to Judy McGrath, chairman and CEO of MTVN, and work to build “an engaging universe of music, games, entertainment, networking and interactivity” for targeted audiences across the portfolio of MTVN brands and platforms, the company said Wednesday.

“Mika is a digital media veteran, and he is recognized for building innovative video and gaming assets online. He understands what it takes to create that addictive, immersive online experience and at the same time build a valuable brand,” Ms. McGrath said in a statement.
