Cal Perry has been promoted by CNN to Baghdad bureau chief after several months as director of the bureau. He succeeds Kevin Flower, recently named Jerusalem bureau chief.

Mr. Perry joined CNN in 2003 as an editor on the international desk. Since then he has worked as a producer, a reporter and a correspondent in Iraq and elsewhere in the Middle East.

“Cal has more than proven his mettle with our coverage from Iraq in recent months, and we’re eager to see his work from the region in the future,” Tony Maddox, senior VP of international newsgathering operations, said in the announcement Monday of Mr. Perry’s promotion.
