Veoh Revamps Site, Adds Features

Online video site Veoh introduced several new features to its long-form video service Thursday, part of the company’s strategy of offering a variety of business models for creators.

The site makeover gives producers the opportunity to charge for their content, including rental and download-to-own options.

Also, the home page has a new look and feel. It now includes “featured broadcasters,” “personalized recommendations” and “popular categories,” such as animation, arts, comedy, music and sports.

Users can also browse the site by categories such as “recommended,” “favorites,” “series” or “people,” for instance. Finally, the new home page boasts a much larger video player that occupies at least half of the page.

Veoh’s new features are similar to those of other online video sites that have undergone facelifts in recent months to include browse features, organization by channels or categories and an improved player. Revver, Blip.TV, StupidVideos and Break all revamped their looks recently.

Veoh is the 14th-most-visited online video site, according to Nielsen//NetRatings, with 647,000 unique visitors in November.
