Bravo ordered a third season of “Top Chef,” which it bills as the top-rated food series on cable television.

Season two of the show returns Wednesday night with a 70-minute episode featuring Ted Allen of Bravo’s “Queer Eye,” chef Robert Ivan and Debi Mazar of “Entourage.” So far the show’s ratings among total viewers is up 56 percent from season one, the network said.

The network will hold casting calls for season three in Dallas, Las Vegas, Miami, New York and San Francisco. Information about becoming a contestant on the show is available on the network’s Web site, BravoTV.com.

“The second season of ‘Top Chef’ has outperformed even our highest expectations,” said Bravo President Lauren Zalaznick in a statement released Tuesday. “We look forward to discovering another group of culinary talents with the same passion for food and cooking with commanding personalities that make ‘Top Chef’ a must see every Wednesday night.”
