User-generated videos drove the growth in the online video market last year, accounting for about 47 percent of the videos online. Media analysis firm Screen Digest predicts that by 2010 user-generated videos will represent 55 percent of all online video consumed in the United States, or about 44 billion streams.

Despite this growth in usage, viewer-created videos will only account for a small portion of the total revenues flowing into online video, Screen Digest said. The firm predicted that U.S. ad revenues for user-generated video will grow from $200 million in 2006 to nearly $900 million by 2010, but that’s only 15 percent of the total online video revenue market.
