Dr. William Baker, CEO of Educational Broadcasting Corp. and Thirteen/WNET-TV in New York, was named Wednesday as the winner of the 2007 Christopher Leadership Award.

Producer Susan Haspell and NBC were selected to receive a special Christopher Award for the network’s PSA spots “The More You Know.”

Honors will be presented at the March 15 awards ceremony at the McGraw-Hill Building in New York.

Additional Christopher Award winners in the categories of feature film, television and cable, books for adults and books for children will be announced March 8.

First bestowed in 1949, the Christopher Awards honor writers, producers, directors and illustrators whose works “affirm the highest values of the human spirit.” The awards aim to salute leaders in the media who “remind audiences of their power to make a difference.”

The Christophers, a faith-based philanthropic organization, produces the weekly TV series “Christopher Closeup,” which airs on more than 80 broadcast, cable and satellite outlets across the U.S. as well as in 172 countries on Armed Forces Television.
