CBS Taps Google Marketing Executive

Google’s Patrick Keane has joined CBS Interactive as executive VP and chief marketing officer, the network said Wednesday. In the new post, he’ll report to Quincy Smith, head of CBS Interactive.

Mr. Keane had been head of advertising sales strategy at Google. At CBS, he’ll be tasked with marketing and selling CBS’s content across new viewing venues and growing the ad dollars for those new businesses.

CBS has been bolstering its interactive division recently. Earlier this month, it created a wireless unit inside CBS Interactive to develop content for wireless phones. In January, CBS Interactive appointed former CBSSportsLine.com Senior VP and General Manager Stephen E. Snyder as chief operating officer. Finally, late last year, CBS Interactive snared another Internet executive when it hired former Yahoo business development executive Michael Marquez as VP of strategy and corporate development.
