Fox Unleashes ‘The Beast’

Fox has picked up a comedy pilot called “The Beast” from FremantleMedia North America.

The show is based on a British series with the same name, about a womanizing veterinarian who dislikes animals, but enjoys seducing their female owners. The series ran for two seasons in the UK, from 2000 to 2001.

FremantleMedia licensed the format and partnered with CBS Paramount to produce the pilot, and tapped writer/executive producer Tucker Cawley (“Everybody Loves Raymond”).

“The Beast” is one of several recent orders for FremantleMedia. FX ordered the comedy pilot presentation “Man Stroke Woman,” and NBC picked up the improvisational comedy “Thank God You’re Here” for a series order.
