Every show produced by NBC Universal Television Studio that premiered this season is still on the air, a real accomplishment considering this fall’s broadcast demolition derby. One title, “Heroes,” is the biggest breakout hit of the season, while third-year veterans “House” on Fox and “The Office” on NBC continue to reach new ratings heights.
A couple of freshman efforts, “Friday Night Lights” and “30 Rock,” have struggled to gain viewers, if not critical praise.
The studio’s earnings are not broken out, but the division has enjoyed solid DVD sales this past year, with season two of “House” becoming the fastest-selling TV DVD in Universal’s history. That record was quickly surpassed by season two of “The Office.” Both “The Office” and “Heroes” perform strongly on iTunes.
For next fall, the studio has several projects in development, including an update of “The Bionic Woman” and “Sex and the City” author Candace Bushnell’s “Lipstick Jungle” for NBC.
