David Hill is returning to Fox Sports as chairman and CEO.
Mr. Hill resigned his post as DirecTV Entertainment Group President, a job he has held since March 2005. While working at DirecTV, Mr. Hill continued as non-executive chairman of Fox Sports. He will remain involved with DirecTV as an advisor.
Mr. Hill will report to Peter Chernin, president and COO of News Corp.
“David has demonstrated exceptional managerial skill and creativity throughout his career at News Corp.,” said Mr. Chernin, in a statement. “Two years ago, he directed his vast expertise and energy at improving DirecTV programming, and he leaves that organization structurally and creatively in terrific shape. Given the unprecedented schedule of major events Fox Sports has in the next year, the time is perfect for him to resume his full-time leadership once again.”
News Corp. is also selling its stake in DirecTV to Liberty Media.
