Mobile TV provider GoTV Networks said on Tuesday that it landed strategic investments from Motorola Ventures and Qualcomm.

The investment, for an undisclosed amount, is significant because both companies are major players in the mobile phone business. GoTV produces content made for mobile video programming.

The announcement caps off a busy month in the mobile TV business. This week, NBC launched an extensive slate of programming with MobiTV and the MediaFlo service, offered on Verizon phones.

MobiTV, MediaFlo and GoTV are gearing up for what is expected to be a strong year for mobile TV. The number of mobile video subscribers in the United States grew to 6.2 million by the end of 2006 up from 2.5 million at the start of the year, according to new research from mobile research firm Telephia.
