TelevisionWeek is welcoming two veteran journalists to its staff: Chris Pursell returns to the publication with the new title of deputy editor, and Lisa Horowitz joins us as copy chief.
“These two professionals each began making TVWeek better as soon as they walked in the door,” TelevisionWeek editor Greg Baumann said. “Chris has been setting the news agenda on his beat, and Lisa’s keen eye and deft hand have burnished our stories and made the finished product shine.”
Mr. Pursell, who worked at TVWeek and its earlier incarnation, Electronic Media, for four years, will be covering television distribution in all its forms. Earlier in his career, Mr. Pursell was associate editor of special reports at Variety.
TelevisionWeek is fortunate to have secured Mr. Pursell’s services after recent stints he served at Twentieth Television and Sony Pictures Television. Mr. Pursell has a B.A. in mass communication, specializing in journalism, from James Madison University.
Ms. Horowitz brings TVWeek a host of journalism and entertainment industry expertise. She is a veteran of both weekly and Daily Variety in a variety of positions, most recently in the post of senior section editor. In addition, she served an internship and worked as a copy editor at the Hollywood Reporter. She also was a senior editor with CreativePlanet.com and a copy editor in the features department at the Pasadena Star-News.
Ms. Horowitz graduated from Wellesley College, where she was an English literature major, and holds a master’s degree in print journalism from USC.
