NBC Universal and News Corp. started pitching marketers today on advertising in the joint-venture online video service the two media giants plan to launch later this summer.

Speaking during a panel at the PaidContent social media conference in Los Angeles, NBCU’s Chief Digital Officer George Kliavkoff said NBC will talk to agencies and marketers in the next week about various ad options. Based on that feedback, the partners will decide on the final specs by the end of next week so they can include the new service in their upfront dialogues. “We will have that locked and loaded by next Friday,” Mr. Kliavkoff said.

Advertising options under discussion are the length of commercials, the number of commercials per pod and the number of “chapters” each show’s episode will be split into. “If all the advertisers say we can do 15 seconds, or we want five pods per show, we will listen,” Mr. Kliavkoff said after the panel.

NBCU and News Corp. are currently referring to the venture as “new site” but they recently hired a branding agency to devise an official name, Mr. Kliavkoff said. He added that he’d like to involve users in the final decision on a name.
