Nielsen Reports ‘House,’ ‘Lost’ Most Time-shifted Shows

Fox’s “House” and ABC’s “Lost” are the most time-shifted shows, according to new figures from Nielsen Media Research.

In the week of April 2, “House” was played back on digital video recorders 2.7 million times, which would add about 14.4 percent to the number of people who viewed it live.

“Lost” was viewed by 2.5 million people, representing a 22.8 percent increase from live viewing alone of the program.

The figures illustrate why the broadcast networks are adamant that time-shifted viewing of their shows—or the commercials that are watched during them—be included in the calculations for how much advertisers pay for air time.
