A new poll lists the top holiday songs, and in the No. 1 spot is the chestnut “Silent Night,” followed by “Jingle Bells.”
The poll was conducted earlier this month by AP-NORC, surveying 1,067 U.S. adults.
“Silent Night” was mentioned by 12% of respondents, with “Jingle Bells” cited by 8%. Tied for third at 5% are “White Christmas” and “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” with the latter song’s profile presumably elevated by a recent #MeToo controversy over its lyrics.
Movies and TV specials are grouped together, with “It’s a Wonderful Life” topping the list, named by 9% of respondents. Second place is a tie between “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and “A Christmas Story,” each with a 7% response.
