MSNBC President Griffin Attacks Shuster in Email to Fan

Apr 9, 2010  •  Post A Comment

MSNBC President Phil Griffin hasn’t publicly said a lot about David Shuster’s suspension from the cable-news network.

But Mediaite reports that Griffin sent an email to a fan explaining his decision for suspending Shuster after Shuster taped a CNN pilot and reportedly didn’t tell his bosses.

"Sorry, but this is a business and I need team players. He was not moral, ethical or professional and that is not fair to the 500 people who work at msnbc," Griffin wrote in response to a fan who objected to Shuster’s removal. Mediaite said that it had confirmed the authenticity of Griffin’s email.

  1. Shouldn’t you guys mention in this blurb that Shuster himself is the founder of Mediaite?

  2. Sorry – meant Dan Abrams, not Shuster

  3. I wouldn’t exactly call this an “attack.” Seems like a fairly level headed and reasonable response.

  4. David Schuster would have been an excellent person to follow Tim Russert on Meet the Press. The fact that they selected David Gregory foreshadowed the internal conflict at NBC. What a narrow vision Griffin has for this network.

  5. I agree. TVweek needs to go back to journalism school.
I’m sure “Attack” as a headline makes people click on it more.. so if you want to continue to shrink your credibility, keep it up. 🙁
