Google’s YouTube is talking with the soon-to-be-owners of Miramax about distributing the independent movie studio’s 700-film library, reports the Los Angeles Times’ Company Town blog.
The talks signal that Miramax, under its new leadership with former News Corp. executive Mike Lang, will be looking at digital distribution to generate profits, the story notes. Its library, which includes "Pulp Fiction" and "Shakespeare in Love," would be available on YouTube as well as through Google TV, with viewers able to watch the movies with advertising or by paying to rent or buy them, the story says.
