CBS Has a Place in the Prime-Time Lineup for Couric–But It’s Not the Anchor’s Chair

As part of an effort to keep Katie Couric at CBS, the network is offering her a package that includes a prime-time job as well as a role in daytime, the New York Post reports.

The offer gives Couric the chance to become a regular correspondent on "60 Minutes," as long as she stays to do a daytime talk show at the network, according to the story.

Couric’s 2006 contract reportedly tapped her to contribute to "60 Minutes" at least six times a year, although that never happened. Couric started developing Web shorts after the show’s producers failed to give her assignments, the story says.

CBS Chief Executive Les Moonves wants to keep her at the network, although he’s reluctant to push new CBS News boss Jeff Fager to keep her as anchor, the story reports.
