Couric Serious About Pursuing Syndicated Talk Show With Former NBC Boss Zucker

Katie Couric appears to be giving serious consideration to joining forces with her former NBC boss Jeff Zucker to create a syndicated daytime talk show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Couric is reportedly contemplating whether to stay at CBS after her contract expires in June, which would mean a significant reduction in salary. At this point her options remain open, but she is reportedly talking with Time Warner and NBCUniversal, as well as CBS.

One source told the publication that moving ahead with the syndicated show is a “strong likelihood” for Couric.

Timing is a factor, the story points out, with the departure of Oprah Winfrey from daytime talk creating an opportunity for any number of contenders to try to fill the void and duplicate Winfrey’s success.
