Dish Names New President for Blockbuster, Who Vows to ‘Reinvigorate the Iconic Blockbuster Brand’

Dish Network announced today that it has appointed a president for its new Blockbuster subsidiary, Multichannel News reported. The company gave the assignment to the executive VP of its Commercial Services division, Michael Kelly.

Kelly has also led the Direct Sales and Media Sales operations.

Charlie Ergen, Dish chairman and CEO, said in a statement: "Michael was the visionary behind our acquisition of Blockbuster. His leadership will be key to returning Blockbuster to profitability and improving the experience we offer to consumers across the U.S. and globally."

Kelly also issued a statement, saying, "I am excited to work with Blockbuster’s dedicated employees and franchisees around the world to reinvigorate the iconic Blockbuster brand and allow consumers easier access to enjoy the more than 125,000 movie and game titles available from Blockbuster’s neighborhood stores, by-mail service and digital library."
