CNN Welcomes Back a Network Mainstay TVNewser
CNN is bringing back an on-air personality who was a familiar face on the network in past years. The cable news channel unveiled plans today for its new Christiane Amanpour program "Amanpour," which it has set to premiere Monday at 3 p.m. ET, reports TVNewser.
The new 30-minute show is planned as a daily fixture of the CNN daytime lineup. Amanpour, meanwhile, will also remain with ABC News as its global affairs anchor.
Tony Maddox, executive vice president and managing director for CNN International, said in a statement: “We are delighted to have Christiane back at CNN. Christiane’s sophisticated, incisive journalism is needed now, more than ever, to add context and depth to the world’s biggest news and stories."
Amanpour also commented in the statement, saying: “This is an exciting time to have this unique role. I am thrilled to come home to CNN, where I have reported for so many years – and combine this role with the reporting that I will continue for ABC News.”
"Amanpour" will be executive produced by Liza McGuirk.
