Fox Series Halts Production Over Star's Medical Issue Deadline

A Fox drama series has shut down production to allow one of its stars to receive treatment for a medical condition. Deadline.com reports that “Fringe” is on a two-week hiatus while John Noble is treated for a sleep disorder.

The move comes after four days of shooting on the show’s final 13-episode season.

The report notes: “On Monday, Noble was MIA at the show’s TCA panel when producers explained that he was not feeling well. The series resumed production [Tuesday] without Noble, and a decision was made later in the day to go on hiatus while the 63-year-old actor receives treatment.”

Noble’s condition, which he has reportedly had for some time, “was aggravated by his recent intense schedule that had him flying back from his native Australia right into Comic-Con then right into production on Season 5 of Fringe,” the story reports.

Production is set to start up again Aug. 7, with producers saying the show’s season premiere, set for Sept. 28, will not be affected.
