Lifetime to Go Ahead With 'Steel Magnolias' Premiere After Winning a Round in Court Deadline

Lifetime won a key decision in the legal scuffle over its remake of “Steel Magnolias,” with the takeaway being the show will go on as planned this Sunday, Deadline.com reports.

A Los Angeles judge tossed out a request today for a temporary restraining order by a producer on the original movie, the story reports. The producer, Victoria L. White, is suing Lifetime over the movie, as we reported previously.

“White, executive producer on the 1989 feature, earlier this week filed a lawsuit against the remake’s producer, Sony Pictures Television, Lifetime and the network’s parent A+E Television Networks, along with an injunction request to block the TV movie from airing,” the story reports. “The suit, in which she is charging breach of contract, good faith and fair dealing, seeking screen credits, fees, and a portion of net profits, is still ongoing.”

The Lifetime reboot features Queen Latifah, Alfre Woodard, Phylicia Rashad and Jill Scott.
