ABC Sitcoms Sink to Historic Lows TVbytheNumbers
ABC tried out a couple of sitcoms in the 10 p.m. hour Sunday night, with disastrous results. TVbytheNumbers.com reports that “Happy Endings” sank to a series-low 1.0 average rating in the key demo of adults 18-49, based on Nielsen overnights, while “Don’t Trust The B” equaled its all-time low with an 0.9 average.
Fox had little competition on the night, with an hour of NFL playoff coverage kicking off prime time. The end of the Seahawks-Redskins game racked up a 12.1 in the 18-49 demo, and the postgame show delivered a 7.6. Other than football, the highest-rated show on the broadcast schedule was Fox’s “The Simpsons” with a 4.4, followed by the Fox show “Family Guy,” with a 3.5.
For prime time overall, Fox was well ahead of the competition with a 5.6 average rating in viewers 18-49, followed by NBC (2.2 average), ABC (1.8) and CBS (1.7). It was closer in total viewers, but Fox won handily with an average of 13.7 million to CBS’s 9.7 million, NBC’s 6.4 million and ABC’s 5.5 million.
