Syfy Cancels Drama Series EW
Syfy has canceled a drama series after failing to pump up viewership numbers for the show, reports EW.com's Inside TV. The network tried switching showrunners between seasons one and two of “Alphas,” but the moved failed to produce higher ratings.
The show’s cancellation is not a surprise, the piece says, noting that the series’ second-season debut in summer 2012 attracted only 1.7 million viewers, a sizable dropoff from the season-one debut.
“Syfy has decided not to renew 'Alphas' for a third season. We’ve been proud to present this entertaining, high-quality series for two seasons and to work with an incredible ensemble of talented actors, producers and creatives as well as our partners at BermanBraun Television," the network said in a statement. “We’d like to thank the show’s dedicated regular viewers for their tremendous support.”
