Model Sues Over 'Mad Men' Opening Sequence TheWrap
A model has filed a lawsuit against Lionsgate Entertainment, alleging that its hit AMC drama series "Mad Men" uses her image in its opening sequence without permission and has failed to compensate her, reports TheWrap.com.
Gita Hall May, who was a top model in the 1950s and 1960s, alleges in the lawsuit that the opening sequence shows a photo of her taken by Richard Avedon for a Revlon ad.
Lionsgate had no comment, the story says.
The complaint says the show has generated "in excess of $1 billion," in part due to the Emmy-winning title sequence, but that she hasn't benefited. She's seeking statutory and punitive damages, restitution, injunctive relief, attorney's fees and costs, and the cost of the suit.
The sixth season of "Mad Men" premieres April 7.
