High-Profile Online Project Dead: Producer Says Viewers 'Hated It Out of Existence' NY Magazine, Deadline
The writer and producer of a high-profile online project gave a stark assessment of why the show won’t be moving past the pilot stage, New York Magazine’s Vulture reports.
The project is Amazon's "Zombieland," one of the Internet company's first group of pilots, which won't receive a series order, according to the report. The news was relayed in a tweet from its writer and producer Rhett Rheese, who also wrote the 2009 movie it was based on.
"Sad for everyone involved. I'll never understand the vehement hate the pilot received from die-hard 'Zombieland' fans. You guys successfully hated it out of existence. Anyway, we did our best, and we're very proud of our team," Rheese wrote.
Amazon has also passed on "Browsers," as the company narrows down which projects to pursue, according to Deadline.com.
