Two series have been given early season renewals by ABC Family, reports AOL’s TVSquad.com.

"Pretty Little Liars," based on novels by Sara Shepard, will return for a second season, while "Secret Life" is returning for its fourth season in the 2011-12 television season, the story notes.

The announcement was made during ABC Family’s panel at the Television Critics Association press tour. Both shows perform well with women between the ages of 18 and 49 years old, helping the network compete against rivals such as The CW, the story notes.
