CBS Stations Group Names Kucharski to New Post as VP of Media Strategies

Angie Kucharski, the No. 2 executive at the CBS-owned stations WBZ-TV and WSBK-TV since June 2005, has been promoted to the newly created position of VP of media strategies for CBS Television Stations.

Ms. Kucharski will move to New York and report to Tom Kane, president-CEO of the 29-station group.

Her duties will range from providing strategic counsel and support to the group’s local management teams, especially the stations’ news directors, to serving as a liaison between the station group and the network news division. She also will work with the CBS Television Stations Digital Media Group to help develop and implement digital initiatives.

“As the evolution of our business continues both over the air and on digital platforms, it is imperative that we provide our stations with the people and resources they need in order to grow,” Mr. Kane said in Monday’s announcement. “Angie Kucharski has done a great job for us as a talented and insightful executive at our stations in Boston and Denver, and we are very pleased to move her into this new position where her broad range of experience and leadership skills will benefit our entire group.”

A frequently honored executive, Ms. Kucharski spent six years at CBS-owned KCNC-TV in Denver, where she rose from news director to VP/station manager.

Before moving to Denver, Ms. Kucharski had worked in the newsrooms at WBNS-TV in Columbus, Ohio, WTHR-TV in Indianapolis, KTBC-TV in Austin, Texas, and KAAL-TV in Austin-Rochester, Minn.

There was no indication Monday of how long it would take to name a replacement in Boston.
