Bravo has begun casting for its new reality competition program “Step It Up,” which hopes to follow in the footsteps of the network’s Top Chef” and “Project Runway.”
The show will bring dancers together from around the country and challenge them to master difference dance styles.
“‘Step It Up’ pulls back the curtain on one of the most lively arts and one of America’s favorite pastimes—dance,” said Frances Berwick, executive VP, programming and production for Bravo. “Like other creative professions, dance inherently has all the ingredients of competition and drama that make Bravo shows so compelling to watch.”
Potential competitors can go to Bravo’s Web site for details and open calls will be held in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Atlanta over the next few weeks.
The series was created by Gunnar Wetterberg and is produced by Magical Elves.
At the same time, Food Network is getting ready for a fourth season of “The Next Food Network Star” and is holding open-call auditions for the first time.
“Season three of The Next Food Network Star performed beyond our wildest expectations and we are thrilled to extend this exciting franchise into a fourth season,” said Bob Tuschman, senior VP, programming, for Food Network. “As always, we are looking for people who have strong culinary knowledge and vibrant personalities who can pass along their passion for cooking to our viewers.”
Food Network expects a new season of the series to tape and air in 2008.
