FCC Pushes Chicago Media Ownership Hearing to Jackson Group’s HQ

Sep 4, 2007  •  Post A Comment

The Federal Communications Commission and the Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. Rainbow PUSH Coalition are getting together at least as far as the site of the next media ownership hearing.
The FCC said today that it will hold its previously announced Chicago media ownership hearing Sept. 20 at the coalition’s headquarters on the city’s South Side rather than downtown.
There was no immediate word if Rev. Jackson would participate in the event. The FCC said it would release a list of panelists later.
The Chicago hearing is the fifth of six the FCC is holding on media ownership as it reviews its current rules following an appellate court ruling invalidating its first rewrite of the rules.
Any changes in FCC media ownership rules now most likely will be unveiled early next year.
